Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan Makes Bold Statement About Taylor Swift

Billy Corgan has a lot on his place right now—a new bandmate, a massive tour, a pro-wrestling reality show—but in a new interview with The Irish Times, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman spoke about another topic: Taylor Swift.

"Taylor Swift is one of the most gifted pop artists of all time. How is it a bad thing that she’s releasing more music? I can’t follow that," he said, referencing the long runtime of Swift's recent double-album The Tortured Poets Department. "People complained about the length of my last album, Atum. I thought, Well, just go make your own playlist. Just listen to the record one time — rag over the six or 10 songs you like and make your own record. Why is this such a strange concept? Have some sense of proportionality."

Corgan is no stranger to long albums. Decades before their 33-song album Atum, the Pumpkins released their famous double-album Melon Collie & The Infinite Sadness in 1995. He's also not the only rockstar to praise Swift recently. Earlier this week, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong revealed he attended The Eras Tour during an off day in France.

"Just saw Taylor Swift eras tour in Lyon France 🇫🇷!! Great production. Great voice . Great entertainer. Great songwriting. Crazy crowd," he wrote on Instagram.

Green Day kicked off their Saviors Tour last week. The trio play Europe and UK through June and then take the tour to North America, which just so happens to be supported by the Smashing Pumpkins.
