MGK's 'Downfalls High' Racked Up Over 16 Million Views Opening Weekend

It's safe to say Machine Gun Kelly's first foray into filmmaking was successful. After releasing his debut pop punk album (and first No. 1 album),Tickets to My Downfall, in September, the rapper-turned-rockstar teamed up with his friend Mod Sun to create a short film soundtracked by the album.

Downfalls High stars Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney and TikTok star Chase "Lil Huddy" Hudson, and was shot in only four days. The quick turnaround paid off — MGK recently revealed that the musical racked up more than 16 million views opening weekend (and that's just from its Facebook premiere).

"thanks to everyone who helped us turn the album into its own world and era," he wrote in a celebratory Instagram post.

Ahead of its release, MGK spoke with NME about making the project. “It was almost like shooting 14 music videos back-to-back, but with a narrative that’s outside of my personal life stories,” he explained. “It focuses on other characters, and then me and Travis Barker are just the narrators. It’s an interesting concept because it hasn’t been done for an album ever, maybe outside of like Pink Floyd’s The Wall.”

After its initial premiere, Downfalls High was uploaded to YouTube. You can watch it in full above.
