iHeart Health, Wellness, and Awareness Feature

iHeart Health, Wellness, and Awareness focuses on a different topic monthly that impacts our community. This month, we are focusing on National Overdose Awareness Month for September.

Background:

International Overdose Awareness Day kicks off this month of awareness on August 31st, to remember those that have passed from drug overdoses. In 2017, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assessed that over 70,000 people died from drug overdose. This epidemic has been continually growing and affecting our communities, and currently the focus is on the growing cases of synthetic opioid overdoses.

What You Can Do To Help:

Spreading awareness is always key. Whether you want to hold a day of remembrance for those that have passed, or writing a letter to your local government representative about how this crisis impacts you and your community, there are many ways to engage with this cause.
