Louis Tomlinson To Judge On 'X Factor' 8 Years After Appearing On The Show

Louis Tomlinson is going to have a full circle moment with his career when the former One Direction bandmate joins the judging panel on Season 15 of The X Factor in August.

On Tuesday (July 17), the long-running U.K. singing competition made the announcement, detailing the 26-year-old star's placement alongside returning star Sharon Osbourne. Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field will also appear as new judges, replacing Nicole Scherzinger and Louis Walsh. "After much speculation, we are SO EXCITED to reveal our X Factor 2018 JUDGES!!!! Welcome to the panel @Louis_Tomlinson, @robbiewilliams, Ayda Williams and the one and only, Mr @SimonCowell! #XFactor," the official account for the show announced mid-afternoon. Auditions for the show are set to begin filming later this week ahead of the season premiere on ITV next month.

Tomlinson also took to Twitter to share a video explaining why he decided to accept the offer and kept at bay in regards to the release of his debut solo LP. Scroll on below to watch the clip!

News of Tomlinson's judging stint arrives eight years after he appeared on the show in 2010 with his 1D bandmates Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Liam Payne and ZAYN. In case you don't remember, the five budding singers failed to make it through the boot camp part of the show as solo artists and were hand-selected by Simon Cowell to be members of a group. Back in 2015, Tomlinson appeared as a guest judge on the show, assisting Cowell in selecting artists that would make it through to the live portion of the competition.
